Music Meeting opening day: easy-going and full of rousing vibes
The first act we meet on main stage Nikko is Naamu, Teun Creemers’ new project. The bassist explains that his nine-member band had to wait over four years because of the pandemic and that he is super happy to be touring with the band for the first time now. He combines his pulsating bass, drum and percussion rhythms with his love for Mali, and in particular by collaborating with vocalists Kankou Kouyaté, Aminata Dante and Yacouba Sagara. The combination of western and African sounds in particular captures the imagination, with the vocalists alternating with colourful melodies and interludes. There are also great features for saxophonist Jesse Schilderink.

Openingsdag Music Meeting: gemoedelijk en vol opzwepende vibes
De eerste act die we treffen op hoofdpodium Nikko is Naamu, het nieuwe project van Teun Creemers. De bassist vertelt dat zijn negenkoppige band ruim vier jaar moest wachten vanwege de pandemie en dat hij super blij is om nu voor het eerst met de band te kunnen touren. Hij combineert zijn pulserende bas, drum en percussie ritmes met zijn liefde voor Mali, en in het bijzonder door samen te werken met vocalisten Kankou Kouyaté, Aminata Dante en Yacouba Sagara. Vooral de combinatie van westerse en Afrikaanse klanken spreken tot de verbeelding waarbij de vocalisten elkaar met kleurrijke melodieën en intermezzo’s afwisselen. Ook zijn er mooie features voor saxofonist Jesse Schilderink.
