It happens more often that bandleaders put their own instrument prominently in the mix. Sometimes this is irritating, but the fact that Teun Creemers’ bass is quite loud here is a golden touch. Sitting still is impossible because Creemers and the many fantastic musicians accompanying him immediately get the schwung going. The African rhythms combined with delicious sax and clarinet solos by three furiously playing jazz horns are simply unbeatable. The fact that Creemers also writes rock-solid pieces makes Naamu an irresistible record.

Het gebeurt vaker dat bandleiders hun eigen instrument prominent in de mix zetten. Soms is dat irritant, maar dat de bas van Teun Creemers hier nogal hard staat, is een gouden greep. Stilzitten is onmogelijk want Creemers en de vele fantastische musici die hem vergezellen, hebben de schwung onmiddellijk te pakken. De Afrikaanse ritmes in combinatie met heerlijke sax- en klarinetsolo’s van drie furieus spelende jazzblazers zijn domweg niet te versmaden. Dat Creemers bovendien ijzersterke stukken schrijft, maakt Naamu een onweerstaanbare plaat.
